Al Deng

Al Deng is an artist from the US. Currently studying Biology at the University of Colorado Denver. “Math and visual arts have always been an interest of mine. From learning how to do origami and also sacred art, it seems that I find similarities that bridge even the most different forms of art. I am also a Bboy (breakdancer) in the Denver metro area, we do competitions, practices, and classes.”

My mission:

I had first discovered sacred geometry through complete accidental means. By deeply engaging in different forms of spiritual meditation, I was able to connect with the universe and started to see sacred geometry patterns in the sky. Ever since then I haven’t been able to stop thinking, digging, and researching about it.

My original aim wasn’t to create art in any way, shape, or form. All I had was my pencil, ruler, and compass. Through complete intuition and my understanding about the rules and laws in math, I let each picture lead me to the next; so in a sense I wasn’t the one “creating” art work, but the art work was creating a new me.

I’ve always been a simple person, so I like to express my art work through simple pencil and paper. My goal was to put as much detail as I could fit into just one circle. How much detail can you fit on a piece of white paper before it turns just black? To me its like trying to balance the good and evil within each of us, too much of anything makes the picture either irrelevant, or confusing. I wanted to express my ideas and thoughts about the rules, regulations, and order that it takes to not only construct a work of art; but the construction of the known universe.  Al Deng
